Confidentiality
We take your privacy and safety seriously.
For many people in ministry, life is lived in a uniquely public way. It can feel like a fishbowl, with every movement and decision made under the scrutiny of others. At Alongside, we understand that feeling safe is essential to the vulnerability and openness needed for renewal and growth. That’s why we’re committed to confidentiality.
Confidentiality is not only mandated legally and ethically for counseling retreats like those at Alongside, but it’s also one of our core values. We strive to provide comprehensive safety: physical, relational, psychological, emotional and spiritual. When people feel safe, they can begin to honestly examine where and why it hurts and move forward with hope.
Here are some of the ways we protect and practice confidentiality:
- We carefully shape each retreat to avoid any overlap. We consider each participant’s ministry affiliations, denominations and sending organizations when we accept applicants for our retreats. We also consider geographic contexts and locations to ensure privacy, authenticity and transparency.
- We do not release information to anyone (sending organizations, churches, member care providers, supervisors, family members) unless the participant gives us written permission to do so.
- We strive to create a retreat atmosphere that gives participants control over what is known or not known about them.
- Our staff is HIPPA trained.
