Steve grew up in upstate NY and then headed to the Midwest to attend Wheaton College, earning a B.A. in Psychology. A year after graduating Steve returned to Wheaton College Graduate School to pursue an M.A. in Clinical Psychology which he received in 1991. After finishing graduate school, Steve and his wife, Gretchen, moved to Vienna, Austria. Steve’s primary responsibilities in Vienna were focused on ministry to Third Culture Kids attending the international schools. While there he also found time to develop a private counseling practice within the expatriate community. Two years later saw the Maybee family move to Romania to pioneer a ministry there to Romanian high school students. During their three years there Steve was involved extensively in project development, adolescent and family counseling, and community outreach ministry. Steve brings to ALONGSIDE a shepherd’s heart: He is committed to caring for, sharing with, and encouraging pastors and missionaries, helping them find their way towards health and wholeness. Steve is an M.A. level licensed psychologist.
